2022 marked Sportsrooms fifth UEFA Champions League final in partnership with Fuse and our first final since the pandemic. Sportsrooms works as the hotel booking agent and accommodation management team within Fuse for PepsiCo, one of UEFA’s primary (and long-standing) sponsors.
As a provider of marketing and commercial services for brands and rights holders at sporting events around the world, Fuse has worked with Sportsrooms now for many years to help deliver their accommodation programme for major events.
With the UEFA Champions League final originally scheduled to take place in St. Petersburg, Russia, the Sportsrooms team had worked for several years in contracting thousands of rooms in the city for the big event. In early 2022 following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and subsequent stripping of hosting the Champions League finals – everything came to a grinding halt. Briefly.
Two weeks and over 2000 rooms cancellations later, the Sportsrooms team had arranged room refunds in St. Petersburg and shifted their focus to the Champions League Final’s new home for 2022: Paris.
To a backdrop of the Eiffel Tower, over 2500 room nights were secured by the team across five hotels in the country’s capital for PepsiCo guests, VIPs, prize-winners and talent, and the stage was set. It was game night. Liverpool versus Real Madrid.
If you’re a Liverpool fan, you may want to look away now. But off the pitch, the Sportsrooms result spoke volumes of the team’s commitment to yet another well-orchestrated final in partnership with Fuse, PepsiCo and the UEFA operations team.
From managing the contract, room allocations and logistical operations for over 1000 guests across five hotels – to supporting the Welcome Desks at each hotel, delivering key information to guests – the excitement of going the extra mile is why we are grateful to keep getting the opportunity to work on the UEFA Champions League Final.
