Travel with the Team- Gloucester Rugby

Overview

For their European Challenge Cup adventure this season Gloucester wanted to give their fans a unique opportunity to support the team in Montpellier.

Teaming up with Sportsrooms, Gloucester Rugby booked a private charter plane to Montpellier to take the team to the match in the South of France. The team wanted to give their fans the opportunity to travel in style with the team so appointed Sportsrooms to manage both the fan bookings and operations.

What we did

Working with Gloucester Rugby to promote this unique opportunity over 100 Gloucester fans signed up for the trip to the South of France. All bookings were managed through Sportsrooms online booking system at sportsrooms.com. Sportsrooms followed up with a personal introduction call to all bookers and provided in-depth pre-arrival information for all guests.

Once on site along with our charter partners ACC and Jet2, Sportsrooms ensured a warm welcome to all Gloucester fans with branded check in desks at Birmingham International Airport. In addition to looking after the arrival and check in of all fans the Sportsrooms team on site ensured a smooth and efficient process for the team to minimise their waiting time at the airport.

Once in Montpellier, Sportsrooms along with our partners Knights Travel provided high quality coach transfers for both the team and fans to their four star hotels for the stay in the City.

Saturday night provided fans time to explore the sites, bars and restaurants of Montpellier and judging by some of the sore heads at breakfast on Sunday a good night was had by all!

Johan Ackermann and Rory Teague provide unique insight to the fans on the trip.

One of the added value features offered to fans on the trip was an enlightening and exclusive Question and Answer session with Gloucester Head Coach Johan Ackermann and Skills Coach Rory Teague. The fans got the chance to quiz the coaches on Gloucester’s recent performances and plans for the future and the event provided a truly unique insight into the behind the scenes activities of a World Class professional Rugby team.

Sunday afternoon brought about the highlight of the weekend with Gloucester match at Top 14 heavyweights Montpellier. Unfortunately the result was not what the fans wanted but the team showed great resolve throughout and glimpses at more positive days ahead.

After the match the Sportsrooms team on the ground guided the fans onto coaches back to the airport for the return flight to Birmingham. At the airport we were reunited with the Gloucester team who joined the fans on the flight back home.

The Gloucester Rugby trip to Montpellier was one of multiple Rugby fan trips that Sportsrooms hosted over the European season.
